How will you celebrate this July 4th weekend?

Posted: July 01, 2015 | Author: jhansbrough

Fr. Leo's wrapping up his trip to Italy, returning stateside tomorrow, just in time to celebrate the 4th of July. As we celebrate our country's 239th "birthday", when the nation declared its independence from Great Britain, it's the perfect time to spend with the ones we love. The classic 4th of July celebration involves fireworks, grilling, and lots of American flags, but we at Grace Before Meals are interested in finding out what YOUR celebration is like. Please share with us your own traditions, favorite recipes, and memories of Independence Day to help encourage other people and their families to enjoy the holiday in new ways.

Food for Thought

- What is your favorite Independence Day tradition? How do you celebrate America's independence?

- What is your favorite memory of July 4th?

- What is your favorite recipe to cook up during this time of year?

Some highlights from Italy

Fr. Leo's trip to Italy with Gus Lloyd has been truly amazing, and you can check out a lot of the pictures by checking out Fr. Leo's Facebook and Twitter accounts. No doubt, there is a lot of good (ok, great) food, tradition, and fun in Italy, to say the least.  Some of the highlights included:

A shot of the pilgrimage group that joined Fr. Leo and Gus Lloyd in Italy. What a group!

True Italian pizza. Yummy.

Let Us Pray:

We pray that God blesses America, as we strive to preserve our values and traditions, namely our inalienable rights of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". May we not be afraid to take a stand for faith, hope and love.

God bless America

(Lyrics from Wikipedia)

God bless America,

Land that I love,

Stand beside her and guide her

Thru the night with a light from above;

From the mountains, to the prairies,

To the oceans white with foam,

God bless America,

My home sweet home.

God bless America,

My home sweet home.
