The Joy of Loving Your Family & Food

Posted: April 13, 2016 | Author: Fr. Leo

We all know how awkward family meals can be when there's tension. It's not joyful, nor loving!  That's what Pope Francis is trying to address in his latest Apostolic Exhortation - Amoris Laetitia - the Joy of Love!

Love isn't easy.  It requires great responsibility: the ability to respond - especially to all of those normal tensions that affect family life.  I hope you enjoy this little perspective before your start engaging, debating or even worrying about what the Pope is trying to exhort all families - no matter what religion they profess. Gosh, even atheist families can learn something from the Pope!

Let us pray

(The closing prayer of the Apostolic Exhortation, by Pope Francis)

Holy Family of Nazareth,
grant that our families too
may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel
and small domestic churches.

Holy Family of Nazareth,
may families never again experience violence, rejection and division;
may all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing.

Holy Family of Nazareth,
make us once more mindful
of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Graciously hear our prayer.
