Yes, I was in a cooking competition with some of the top chefs of New Orleans: Executive Chef Justin of La Petite Grocerie, and Chef Christopher, Chef du Cuisine of Commander’s Palace (the same place that gave Emeril his fame!).

Judge Feldman – the same judge who just yesterday halted Obama’s drilling plan ban – read the verdict.
Msgr. Nalty, the same priest who helped me win the Throw Down with Bobby Flay, hosted the event in his lovely parish. This event was designed to bring his three parishes together for a “fun” raiser. What better way to do that than with food.
Again, going up against some of the top chefs in New Orleans wasn’t easy. They produced a beautiful local fish dish with an incredible salad – and a cobbler for dessert. They described it much better than I did. I’ll have to get the recipe, as it was DELICIOUS!

I on the other hand, went more “family style” with a Coconut Bourbon Cream Chicken with a Trinity Fried Rice, served in a grilled red pepper ring.
And the winner is – (drum role please) – a TIE!
The real winners were the people who had a chance to sample our cuisines, and more importantly grow closer as a parish family – around this delicious table, and more importantly around the Lord’s Table, where those who eat of that Sacred Meal, are the true winners.

Thanks for being a Priest, Father! Your meal looks totally delicious!

Posted by Deo volente on June 24th, 2010 at 6:37 am.I was blessed to be in attendance at this incredible event and acknowledge my bias towards two very special priests! Both dishes were perfectly prepared and presented and delicious. But the running commentary about families and shared meals by Father Leo was so meaningful and inspiring for all the families there. It was a great community event and we are so grateful that four fabulous chefs (and wonderful human beings)shared their talents with us. Merci beaucoup!
Posted by Jane Nalty on June 24th, 2010 at 7:38 am.Dear Fr.Leo,
Praise Be Our Lord Jesus Christ, Now&Forever.
How does one sign up to get a meal cooked by you? I’d love to have u come see the new house with Susan&Greg Rohr(date night for them), Patti Davis, Fr.Collin Poston, and myself. I trust your cooking as that’s a skill Our Lord didn’t give me.
God picked out the lot and the house with St.Joseph and Jesus helping to construct the house (Mother Nadine’s letter of confirmation with building in Greencastle, PA).
The home has been enthroned (my apt was and I was informed the enthronement came with me. Uncle Jean (Fr.Jean Hart, S.O.L.T) blessed the house and property. He also said Mass in the home (you’re welcome to do that too) There are St.Benedict medals in the foundation and windows. There are crosses/crucifixes over all the doors. I promised that to God. Every room has the weapons:Rosary and Scapular. The property and house had Blessed Salt and Holy Water during the construction phase.
I can sit down with Susan sometime and get a list of possible dates as she can talk to Fr.Collin while we do this and then send the list to you.
I know I’d love to have you come. I don’t know if I’d have all the pots&pans&utensils you would need. I’d have to check. I have a glass top stove/oven (no gas in this house). I have the GE Advantium over the stove (it’s a microwave or convection oven, or regular oven). I have a toaster oven. I have a crock pot. I have a microwave.
Please let me know if this can even be a possibility. I will understand if you say no.
Thanks in Jesus Christ,
Mary Catherine
I do have another table (that Uncle used for Mass in the Sunroom) that can seat 4 if you have some other seminarians or priests that want to join you.

Are you saying that the $5 Msgr. Nalty slipped the judges didn’t buy a win for the priest team? I told him he should have at least slipped them $20!
