  • Hi Father Leo
Please pray for zoogle.com it is a Catholic Social networking site at the
service of the church. A million times better than a regular social
networking site it’s goal/dream is to bring people on line together in their
parishes and communities allowing for real community, friendship and the
    sharing of the faith.

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know that I really enjoyed watching you on the Bobby Flay Throwdown! Your warm and vibrant personality seemed to pop out of my tv and reach out to me!
Not many people have that kind of charisma – which is why I also sent Food Network an email telling them that we need to see more of you!
Keep up the great work – your steak fajitas looked so YUMMY!!!
Have a wonderful New Year – God is always opening up new doors for us!
    God Bless!

On this feast day of the “Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph”, it is very fitting that I share with you this feature story in the Asian Journal about a Filipino-American Catholic priest whose mission is the strengthening of the families via the family kitchen and dining room. At this time and age, when families are breaking up left and right, Fr. Leo seems to have a mission impossible ahead of him, but with God’s grace he is determined to fulfill his mission one meal at a time. God has prepared him for this, though, because he has the credentials that family members will admire. He is not only a priest but also a celebrity cook, seminary professor, multi-media person, multi-discipline martial artist and a dancer.
Last summer he traveled coast to coast to be my parish resource speaker at Our Lady Queen of the World parish in Bay Point, California, and in many other parishes.
Fr. Leo Patalinhug’s name is unmistakenly Filipino. I wonder how Americans will call him for short and for convenience. I hope they don’t call him Fr. Leo Pata, because that will sound too “Krispy” to Filipinos.

  • Hello Fr. Leo,

It was such a nice surprise to see you on TV in a “Throwdown with Bobby Flay.” We saw you at the retreat for Mount 2009 and we had an amazing time at St. Mary’s. It was the first time my husband attended with us and he loved every minute of it, it was a very spiritual time for our family.
Our boys Andrey and Dominick thought it was so “cool” to see you cooking on the show. We will now keep an eye on your Grace Before Meals program, I hope it shows on PBS.

Thank you for sharing your amazing and uplifting energy with all of us. It is a blessing to have priests like you. May God Bless you each and every moment.

On a last note, any chance of you posting the fajita recipe? It looked so good, and we wanted to make it as soon as we know what all the ingredients are. I know we are not the only ones searching for the recipe. I have logged onto several sites where people are asking for it.

We all wish you a very joyous and Happy Christmas Season and a wonderful New Year!

    In Christ

  • Hi Father Leo,

I think what you are doing is great! My name is Ed Casillas and I live with my wife and three daughters in Stockton California. I saw you on Bobby Flay’s Throwdown and then visited your website.

We are Roman Catholic and attend Saint Luke’s Parish here in Stockton. I have also been studying escrima for a year now. I served on our parish council where I met an escrima Master who invited me to learn.

Our family spends alot of time preparing meals together. We just made tamales together, grandma, brothers, sisters, nieces, etc

Well I just wanted to write and say that we support what you are doing and please let me know if you ever come to Stockton California or anywhere near. I will be sending out an email to everyone I know asking them to check out gracebeforemeals.com and asking them to support. I also have a website (below) and will put a link to yours on my community page (with your permission).

Thank you Father and may God continue to Bless you and the movement

    Regards,
    Ed

  • Fr. Leo,

I just saw the re-airing of your Throwdown with Bobby Flay (congrats on the win!) and I just want to say that it is really inspiring when our priests get out and evangelize to the world in the way that you do! My wife and I will pray for you, and will support your movement through spreading the word. We just bought your book, and hope to use it within our new family of three adopted girls from Ukraine (ages 3, 8 and 9). Thanks again for being the cultural presence that Pope John Paul II called us all to be!

    God Bless you,
